The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs has significantly enhanced the administration services of population documents through the innovative approach of home printing. Essential documents such as birth certificates, family cards, and death certificates can now be printed by individuals using standard A4 80-gram white paper on a home printer or another printing device.

This advancement alleviates the need for citizens to visit local Dukcapil offices solely for the procurement of these critical documents. Although these printed documents, created on a single sheet of paper rather than the previous secure hologram-printed paper, still retain their legal validity. The key element ensuring this legality is the quick response (QR) code located at the bottom right corner of the self-printed document. This QR code serves as an electronic signature, verifying the authenticity of the data and replacing the previously required wet signatures and stamps.

To print a family card (KK) at home, one must first check the validity of the document. If the document to be printed is authentic, a green checkmark will appear in the scan results, along with information indicating that the document is active, including the applicant’s identification number (NIK), name, and document number. Conversely, if the document is fraudulent or does not match the database records, a red checkmark will appear.
